Position: Director, Social Media

Job Overview:

The Director, Social Media at CG Life, is a client-facing leader with a passion for social storytelling and strategic engagement. This role guides the vision, strategy, and execution of social media programs for life science, biopharma, and healthcare clients. As a senior social strategist, the Director, Social Media is a trusted advisor to clients, helping them achieve measurable business results through channel-specific social strategies, influencer and paid programs, and integrated content campaigns.

This individual excels at building strong client relationships, mentoring internal teams, and delivering work that is both creatively inspiring and strategically sound. They bring deep expertise in social media best practices, a strong understanding of the evolving digital landscape, and a collaborative mindset that drives cross-functional excellence.

This role is hybrid and would work onsite 2-3 days a week in our New York office. 

Key Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Client Relationships

  • Establish and maintain effective client relationships independently and communicate regularly to ensure satisfaction.
  • Guide client decision-making with clarity and confidence, translating objectives into strategic recommendations.
  • Act as a champion for the client within the agency, ensuring their POV is reflected across deliverables.
  • Navigate challenging conversations with diplomacy and defend agency recommendations when necessary.
  • Serve as a client advocate in meetings and a steward of program success and brand integrity.
  • Identify challenges or unmet client needs and proactively present solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal leaders to pitch new ideas and guide upsell opportunities.
  • Regularly facilitate strategic conversations to deepen partnerships and grow accounts.

Project Oversight

  • Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of social media campaigns across paid and organic channels.
  • Oversee content calendars, platform strategy, influencer activations, community management, and paid social media.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of campaign assets, insights, and reports.
  • Manage campaign budgets and provide regular status updates to internal teams and clients.
  • Lead project roadmap development and guide junior team members in execution.
  • Track and report on budgets, timelines, and forecasts in collaboration with project management and finance.
  • Provide leadership with monthly and quarterly updates on account financial performance.

Internal Relationships

  • Build strong relationships across cross-functional teams to align goals and execution.
  • Foster a positive team culture centered around communication, ownership, and problem-solving.
  • Lead internal meetings with clear outcomes and follow through on action items.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for team building, training, and engagement.

Knowledge & Expertise

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of platform algorithms, audience behavior, and social media marketing tools.
  • Demonstrate expertise in social media strategy, content planning, and campaign performance.
  • Understand the nuances of healthcare and life science communications and relevant compliance considerations.
  • Stay actively informed on industry trends, emerging platforms, and best practices.
  • Translate social platform evolution and data into actionable, client-specific insights.

People Management

  • Directly manage and mentor junior and mid-level team members.
  • Deliver coaching and feedback that supports professional development.
  • Champion growth opportunities and team education in the evolving digital landscape.
  • Support resource planning and help manage team bandwidth and assignments.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in social media or digital marketing, with at least 5 years in an agency setting.
  • Must have experience supporting healthcare, life science, or biopharma clients.
  • Proven track record of leading integrated social campaigns that deliver business results.
  • Strategic thinker with strong storytelling, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working across creative, paid media, and analytics functions.
  • Familiarity with platform-specific nuances, compliance, and measurement best practices.
  • Experience managing and mentoring direct reports.
  • Highly adaptable, proactive, and collaborative in a fast-paced environment.

At CG Life, we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. As required by law in this state, the estimated salary range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000 USD and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect. We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. At CG Life, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program, subject to the rules governing the plan. CG Life offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401K retirement with a generous company match and immediate vesting, and flexible time off.
